Mr. Scrooge vs. The Grinch

Mr. Scrooge vs. The Grinch

Santa Claus may be the season's greatest icon, but look behind him into the Christmas shadows and you will see two of the meanest meanies ever to spread holiday meanness.

But which is meaner?

In the left corner, weighing in at 180 pounds (give or take the weight of a few Christmas ghosts), is Ebenezer Scrooge, the Tightwad Terror of London who, it is said, is a "scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner" (appearing courtesy of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol).

And in the right corner, at 247 pounds (based on Seussian proportions), is the Grinch, the Horror of Whoville, bent on stealing Christmas and all the cheer that comes with it.

The Question of the year!!, Who should wear the Mantle of Maximum Meanness this Christmas?

To the top right of this blog page is a poll where you can place your vote on who should be crowned Christmas Meanie. Voting will finish on Christmas Day and the winner will be revealed the day after Christmas. Place your vote!!!

Merry Grinchmas

Waz up peoples!!!

Hope you are having a fabulous holiday season. I just have a question, where did this year go? I'm I the only one that feels like this year has gone by too fast? Wow, I can't believe it.

I wanted to remind you this holiday season, that aside from the shopping, cooking, decorating, partying, planning, shoveling (if you live outside of Florida) thawing (lol, which does include floridians!), desert eating, gift exchanging, or whatever it is your doing this holiday season, just remember that no of this would be possible if it wasn't for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is Christmas and the reason for the season. Keep that in mind throughout this holiday season.

Also, don't be a cry baby if you don't get what you want kids! But I do hope you get what you want (unless you were on the naughty list!)

Have a Very Merry Grinchmas!!!

Happy Mother's Day Mommy!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mother's out there, especially my two mother's, Ana Garcia and Carmen Cruz.

Here is a special poem dedicated to you's from your son.

"Happy Mother's Day" means more
Than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots of things
We never get to say.

It means I love you first of all,
Then thanks for all you do.
It means you mean a lot to me,
And that I honor you.

But most of all, I guess it means
That I am thinking of
Your happiness on this, your day,
With pleasure and with love.

This poem was written by Curtis Clark.

In my own words I just want to say that I love you mom with all of my heart. This is not only a special day for you but for me because I get to honor you and brag about you.

After all the poop cleaning, screaming, spankings, money borrowing, corrections, food cooking, reminders, tears, prayers, laughs, hugs, kisses, insurance paying, and love , I owe you my life.

Thank you for putting up with me, and forming me to the person I am today. You truly are a strong women of God. I love you mom!

Weekend Plans - Mother's Day Edition

Hey blog nation! Happy Friday! Hope the week treated you well. It feels being back, or for better terms, not being blog lazy anymore!

We all know what this weekend is all about, and if you don't I would hate to be your mom!

If you are like me, I still haven't got my mother and mother-in-law's gifts yet. Am I a bad person?

So tomorrow (my precious Saturday) will be spent searching for those perfect gifts. Which by the way, I need your help. WHAT ARE GOOD MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS? I got some ideas on my mind, but my mother's hard to shop for. She never tells me what she like or wants. Do you have a mom like that? Pleeease help me!

Other than that, Sunday we will be barbecuing at my house for the mother's. I will keep you in touch.

So, WHAT ARE YOU PLANS FOR THIS WEEKEND AND FOR MOTHER'S DAY? ANYTHING SPECIAL?

Be careful what you ask for!

Did you write your Christmas list this year? We'll my mother did. Yeah, she wrote her traditional list of things, like an Iron, socks, sweater, fragrances and oils. But there was one thing she wrote on her list that was different from the rest. Check this hilarious video out and try to find out what she put on her Christmas list.

Be careful what you ask for! from Johnny Sierra on Vimeo.

If you still didn't find out what she wanted, it was a Man! and a Man is what she got! So here is my advise to you all, please be careful what you ask for because you just might receive it!

Until next time
Stay blessed

Christmas is Over!

Christmas is over and Santa's work is done! He is going on vacation now.
Here is the aftermath of Christmas morning with the Cruz's/Sierra's!

Like I said in my recent post, Christmas was great. This year we spent the night at my in-law's house. That is one of our traditions (which if you want to check out more of my traditions and share some of your's you can find the post here). We were up by 7:30am and were opening gifts by 8:00am. Here is what I received for Christmas:

Xbox 360
Call of Duty 5
12 month xbox live subscription
Watch
iRobot (Movie)
Pursuit of Happiness (Movie)
Vest
Shirt
Socks

What did you receive for Christmas?

I did not get any sleep these last two days. How about you? Why is that? Christmas puts such an excitement in us that sleep is the last thing on our minds. We shared breakfast together, which was delicious. We also had a great Christmas dinner. This was our menu:

Pernil/Pork
Arroz con gandules/Rice w/ pigeon peas
Ham
Potatoe Salad
Bread

What did you have for Christmas dinner?

I love Christmas and I love it when it comes and hate it when it leaves, but saying that makes me think, does Chrismas ever have to leave? Just because December 25th is over does the celebration, the giving and the thankfullness to our Lord Jesus Christ stop? I say no. I say we all continue to celebrate each and every day our Lord Jesus Christ. I say we celebrate because the old is gone and the new (2009) is ahead! We are living in the greatest times in history! Let us celebrate to that! Let us celebrate that we have our families, friends, health, jobs, churches, etc. And if you have no of those then celebrate that you have life and forgiveness.

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas weekend!

(If you want to check photos of my Christmas morning then you can find them on my myspace page here or my facebook page here!)

Merry Christmas!

I hope you are enjoying this great day with family and friends. There is nothing like Christmas! Throughout all the good food eating, gift unwrapping, toy playing, don't forget what this season is all about. It is about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We wouldn't be here without Him. God gave is only begotten Son, so that we would not perish but have everlasting life. In this season let us thank Jesus for being obedient to the Father and coming down from His throne to be born in a major and live a life of servanthood, love, and sacrifice.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Stop by tomorrow as I give you the details of what happened for Christmas with me and my family and all the gifts I received!

Until next time

Stay blessed, and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tradtions

What's up everyone! As you know the holidays are here and Christmas is near. Woohoo! So am left with a question to ask you, What are your Christmas Traditions? What do you or your family do every year during this holiday season?

Here is what I do:
1. We put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving (which we didn't do!)
2. Write our Christmas list on Thanksgiving as well.
3. Me and my wife buy one ornament that signifies our past year.
4. The family all spends the night at one house on Christmas Eve. (Last year it was my house, this year it is my father-in-laws house)
5. Make cookies on Christmas Eve.
6. We all open gifts together, every individual at a time, so that we can share the joy together.
7. On Christmas day either before or after presents are open, we give thanks to God and just share everything that God has done in our lives.
8. We watch Christmas movies, Christmas Eve and all day Christmas.
9. We have a traditional dinner with the family on Christmas Day!
10. (This is a new one this year) We will be donating money to a foundation/charity/family, but we still don't know yet. Do you know of any good causes/foundations/charities out there that is worth giving every penny too?

There is still more traditions that me and my wife want to bring in, not only for or family now but when we have our kids as well. So, What are your traditions? Share and past the word around maybe there is something you and your family do that I might want to do with my family.

Until next time,
Stay blessed

OH Christmas Tree, OH Christmas Tree!

What's up my people! Is it me or is everyone just lazy this Christmas season? Me and my wife just finished up putting our Christmas Tree TODAY! (There are some photos below) That is horrible! It should have been done the day after Thanksgiving. What is wrong with us? Are we getting old? Is the Christmas excitement and spirit being overshadowed by the economic crisis that we all have faced this year? Whatever it is I know I ain't the only one. Some of my good friends have been slack'n and until this day, they still don't have there tree up! People we got to get on the ball here this is Christmas for goodness sake! I don't care if you are 8 yrs. old to 98 yrs. old this is CHRISTMAS! Let us enjoy this time that God has blessed us with.
Are you slack'n too? Is your Christmas Tree not up yet? Or even the decorations?
Share your Christmas experience so far. Has it been a lazy one? or are you on the ball this year?

No, this is not the finished product. This is stage 1 of 3.

Stage 2 of 3.

Taraaaa! Here it is stage 3 out of 3. This is how our Christmas Tree looks. Finally we are done! jk lol!
Share you Christmas experience so far!
Until next time
Stay blessed!

What I'm thankful for...

In this Thanksgiving Day I am thankful for:

1. For my salvation in Jesus Christ. Without Him I wouldn't be here. Thank You Jesus!

2. My wife, Jennifer Sierra. She is my joy, inspiration, best friend, and the love of my life.

3. My family & friends for being there in my life.

4. My church and spiritual leaders, for praying for me.

5. Spirit and Truth Worship Ministry. I love you guys, (even when you have given me headaches! lol!)

6. Mighty Men Cell group. Keep strong fellows for the best is yet to come!

There is so much that I am thankful for. As I sit back and reflect on all that God has done, (even the very little small details in life that we tend to miss) it brings humility, joy, and worship in my life. Sometime during the family visits, house parties, turkey eating, desert munching, laughing, fellowship, think about all that God has done for you. Think about the fine details in your life that He has taken care of, it will blow your mind!

My plans for today will be going going to my mother's house to prepare potatoes salad! Yippee! Then me and my wife will spend some time together. After that we will be going my in-laws to begin our turkey eating! We will stick around for a bit, then head over to my aunt's house where we will be doing more turkey eating (please keep me in prayer, that I may not commit gluttony!). Then we will head back to my in-laws and enjoy the rest of the night there.

Those are my plans, what are your plans for today and what are you thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day?

I wish everyone a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving or Turkey Day!
